Gladys Jewel Woolsey

Gladys Jewel Woolsey, 102, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:33 P.M., Friday, February 22, 2002 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
Gladys was a homemaker who loved her family and the Lord. Gladys was the oldest member of the First Baptist Church of Du Quoin. She was a member of the Du Quoin VFW Auxiliary 513.
She was born December 22, 1899 at Anna, IL the daughter of Isaac and Alice Victoria Newton.
She married Herbert "Pete" Woolsey on March 31, 1920 at Jonesboro, IL he passed away February 13, 1965.
She is survived by a son- Herbert "Bill" Woolsey of Du Quoin, a daughter- Gladys "Sally" Sullivan and husband Edward of Belleville, nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sons- Martin, Samuel and Hugh Morris Woolsey, three sisters and three brothers and one granddaughter.
Funeral services were at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 26, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Bob Dickerson officiating.
Friends called from 6 to 8 P.M., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Old Du Quoin Cemetery.
